STEP-BY-STEP SETUP INSTRUCTIONS
- Go to Brewfather app and open Settings. Scroll down to API section and tap “Generate API-Key”
- When asking Key Access Scope, choose Read Batches
- Copy and paste User ID and API Key into the BFIDGET App.
- Tap GET/SAVE
- Create a Widget of your choice into Lock Screen or Home Screen (refer to generic iOS instructions of how to setup widgets)
- Widgets updates automatically, so no need to open the BF app to see your batch gravities
- If your batch name is "Batch", go to Brewfather, open the Batch, open the Planning tab, give the Batch a name.
- Read the line above again and aloud. Write it even down and read it. :)
NOTE: When adding widget and you cant find BFIDGET app in the list, try the search field or restart your phone. This happens sometimes and that is not related to BFIDGET app, but iOS.
TIPS:
- Do not enter your BF username and password anywhere. They are not needed. API is a way to to exchange specific data and information between machines. You create API key to allow read only access to your Batch data. Simple and safe.
- Once set up correctly, no need to hassle with BFIDGET app anymore. All automatic.
- BFIDGET fetches last readings of batches which are in Fermenting status only.
- Last reading means a reading by iSpindel/Pill etc or a manually entered reading.
- Enter a proper name for the Batch in Planning view in BF.
- Read the last bullet above again. Aloud.
- Widgets are best in Lock Screen.
- Automatic updating is completely handled by iOS and there is an update "budget", so it is not updating it every second etc. If the widget sometimes shows "Data fetched failed", just wait for a mysterious time and soon it will work again.
